The "Brown" decades brought about Gothic Revival, which Lewis Mumford, famous Historian, wrote of their being the autumn period of American civilization, which followed the brief Renaissance summer prior to the American Civil War. The term is open to interpretation, based on the weird designs. The 19th Century brought the first truly "American" designs, followed by a young Frank Lloyd Wright. |
